Hello ppl,

I havent got the parts yet, as I said in my previous post im ordering them this september...

Im planing on buying the case and the PSU here in portugal, beacuse my shiping WITH NO case costed 125$ and my shipping WITH case costed 277$...incredible what more 20lbs can do to your shipping price...anyways, what i wanted to ask is if "LC-POWER" is a good brand of PSU's cuz they have decent prices like this 550W for 41€...but maybe they suck, i dont know...can you please tell me the brands you use or that you recomend?

And about the case, what do you think mid-tower or full-tower?

Best Regards

LC-POWER seem preferable to brands like DEER (yuck!), but it falls far short of being compared to very reputable brands like FSP, Seasonic, etc.

I looked at this & evidently that 560W is in fact more like a 350W PSU because of the 5V rail padding. It is a quite common unscrupulous practice (among some brands) to load up the now mostly redundant 5V rail with significant Amperage so as to cleverly & deceitfully pump up the overall Wattage rating of those PSUs.

The good news is, they do have a Megatron 700W model with a much better specification, but it probably cost a lot more & is without a doubt more power than you'll need at this time. Oh & BTW, a mid-tower ATX case is quite sufficient enough for virtually all custom PC building, so don't bother shopping for a full-tower.

I think we went over this before, but why are you ordering from the USA? You mean to tell me there are no places in Portugal, Spain, or the surrounding area that can supply you with the parts you need?

LC-POWER PSUs (L & C Technology) are crap...this may help:

For now i'm using CoolerMaster, but the one i actually prefer actually be either Enermax Galaxy or Liberty series if not expensive. Try Gigabyte Odin, i think they're better in terms of price and feature than Enermax only that Enermax have brand power over Gigabyte. I wont risk buying LC brand as they're quite new.

LC-POWER brand isn't new, it's just L&C under a new name (& not a very inventive name either). They've been around for years & have a horrible reputation.

Crap by any other name would smell just as bad.

"but why are you ordering from the USA?"

This is the thing, here in Portugal or in Spain parts are much more expensive, remember my first config with the RADEON X1950Pro and the AMD x2 4800 well, for that i would have to pay 760€ while in the US i got it for 380€...so i supose even with the shipping it is better to order from the US.(and i think i had already said this before...)

So, LC-POWER is crap, got it, il buy something like seasonic or cooler master...
case ATX mid-tower...
thanks for the advices and the links!

I'm sure jam didn't mean for that to be confrontational in anyway, he is quite simply astounded at how PC hardware purchasing could be that pervasive over in that region. He wasn't born yesterday & I'm sure he could relate to the dilemma because we've got a similar thing going with the health care industry here .... LOL
