Dude, there will ALWAYS be better cards...that's just the way it goes. Whatever you pay dollar for today will only go down in value & will soon beat beaten by the next generation of cards. In a year or so people will be saying, "ewwww, you're still running a 7900GT?"...lol.

But if you wanna "waste" your money for bragging rights to your friends (or whatever the reason), the top dog right now is the Radeon XT1900 XTX 512MB...about $500 US, which is roughly $385 EUR

dude all im asking which on is better the 7900GT or X1800XT dont tell me im wasting my money i just wanna play Cod2 better and eventually sell my pc because i wont sell the thing with my 9600 for mre then 500 euro:P

i know the X1900XT 512 is best card right now
but if i want to order one its not gonna be 385 euro its gonna be more like 500-600 euro thats the way it goes in shipping and taxes and stuff like that i dont have the privelige(sorry for my bad language:P) to live in the USA and use newegg i live in holland and they turned "guldens"into euro's here a euro is 2.20731 gulden. maybe ill just wait for cristmas to spend my money on something hotter than a GPU or any part that fits in a pc:P i know the X1900Xt will be beaten so bad in a couple of years by an X2k or an X3k:P
and the price will be less than 50 euro
but i live NOW
and i wanna enjoy life as much as possible now....GOD im talking crap.....

bottom line is: wanna sell my pc maybe build a better one maybe by a simple one.

on the very bottom of the bottom lies this sentence: GPU's are hot they turn me on :P

buried under the floor of the bottom lies this: i have decided to go for the X1800XT right now play cod2 for some weeks and then try to sell the pc then build a better one spend all the money i got and LEAVE it that way im not gonna spend any more $ on it.. thank you for reading this crap any suggestions u wanna give me? any wise words that would change my whole lifE? will be appreciated THANKS

Before you go with the X1800XT, make sure your power supply has at least 25A on the 12V rail or dual 12v rails. The X1800XT series consume alot of power... If I were you, I would wait till the directx 10 card come out and upgrade the system with new CPU/RAM/Mobo/Dx10 video card for more future proof....

Hi, I just done with this a while ago. Stuck between the 7900gt or the x1800xt.
(I now got a eVga 7900GT CO)

The X1800XT beat the 7900gt, assuming they both at stock speed.
But Nvidia vendors like eVga, BFG, XFX, they factory overclock their card, which bring it equal or even better than a stock X1800XT. I am not too sure how much you could OC the X1800xt, you could do some research on that, it should be easy. And i believe the results won't disappoint you=)

But it all depends on which brand are you looking at..let's say the eVga 7900gt series, they have got many for you to choose, at different speeds/cooler, and they got lifetime warranty and a very GOOD costomer supports. Damn, just visit their website, they even allow you to use after market coolers to overclock their produce without voiding their warranty! I won't buy from another company if i am buying a nvidia card. But that's just me.

About the X1800XT, they are 512MB memory instead of 256MB like the 7900GT or the new releast X1900GT. (But to speak the truth, the 512mb memory on the card isn't as superior as a 256mb card. But it helps on higher res gaming. Get it if it doesn't cost too much than a 256mb.) We can leave the X1900GT out of this, because the price and performance isn't that impressive over the other two. The X1800XT is still a beast. The price had drop to the 7900GT range. And the card itself don't seems to have as much problem as all those 7900GT series have. Which to me seems like a strong point. And it's a rare card compare to the 7900GT. If you know what i mean.

I would get the X1800XT and be happy with it, than to get a 7900GT series card. But that also depend on the price between both card. I ended up getting the 7900GT coz i can't find a freaking single X1800XT in Canada selling less then $400. It's just so rare i would spend 50 dollars more to get it!

Let us know which brand are you interested in. They should all be within ur price range.

For me, eVga over all other vendors for Nvidia. Connect3D over Sapphire for ATI. That's just me.

1 thing.. your name.. its "leuk" where is it from? to me its dutch leuk = fun.

yes i might just go for an AGP card aswell like the 7867 = 7800GS+ from gainward cost like 400 euro. but if i go for PCI-e i should consider going for the eVga 7900GT OC like yours or the X1800XT if i can find one ill do some research and let u know :P

Hi, leuk is my chinese name:)
Someone told me it means "Fun" in dutch too!

I also just upgraded from AGP to PCI-E for this 7900GT CO, i picked the ASRock duel 939 motherboard, because it support both AGP and PCI-E video card, which makes it stands out. Also it cost just 100 dollars canadian! Makes upgrading from AGP to PCI-E not as "painful" as you might think. Too bad it isn't Nforce chipset, but it's not that bad..hehe..

Either both card won't disappoint you. Your CPU is very good too...consider taking the PCI-E path, open youself up a lot more upgrading options in the future!

Good luck on your research!
