Well. We can't help you.. yet. Could you give us your system specifications and the games you're willing to play/pay for?
For the Xbox 360 controller thing...
You need a driver.http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/m...
I like chicken.

lol ya sure i have an amd processor with a radeon 200x graphics card. is that good enough if not let me know what else you need. i can get the driver my sisters boyfriend test comp games for microsoft and has all that stuff. and as for games ill pay just about anything for a good fps that will last and wont get boring, and proably the same for a good racing game but i really like the nfs at least i do on xbox

The "compag v5000" is a notebook. It's not built for gaming & there's no way to upgrade the video. Since you're willing to "pay just about anything for a good fps that will last and wont get boring", be prepared to dig deep into your pocket. You're gonna have to pull out at least $1500 to buy a decent gaming notebook.

we ordered a new xps desktop should i just play games on it? and so theres like nothing i could play in this notebook ? lol

I've got a 1.4 Celeron notebook and I found the perfect substitute for modern games: old games! Download DOSbox and go nuts with the classics like Duke Nukem 2 and Wing Commander.
I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself.

get yourself some monkey island for your laptop.
If you get games and stuff and you want to use your XBOX controller, you can buy and adapter from Game, Gamestaion etc etc and it costs £14.99. It plugs into your USB port amd away you go.....

well my sisters boyfriends a tester for Microsoft i.e right now hes testing xbox live for comps. Its really cool!!! but he has seen my comp. and thinks that i could run warcraft 3 ok with some lag. and as for the controller i already have the usb port for my 360 controller and he has the driver. My cousin has a crappier lap top then me and he runs GTA. just fine so do you think when i get another 512 of ram ill be able to run a shooter like a tom Clancy or something? If not is there any fps out there that i could run and what do you think nfs carbon would do on my laptop?

You can look up the minimum & recommended system requirements for these various games yourself, and see at a glance if your notebook makes the grade
... or just keep asking your sister's beau
I'm not one of those who think Bill Gates is the devil. I simply suspect that if Microsoft ever met up with the devil, it wouldn't need an interpreter.

This will probably start a war - but here goes.
Since you dont know all that much about gaming on PC's , if i were you i would just stick with the xbox 360 for most of your gaming needs
The reasoning is as follows :-
I love playing driving games (NFS/Gran Turismo/World Rally etc) but i play them all on xbox/ps2. You can buy most games for BOTH PC and console. I personally play them on a console as they cost the same for PC/console.I dont see the sense in paying £30/40 on a game and then having to spend further to upgrade my PC when it will run on my ancient PS2 without any further effort. Disc in and go. I'm a cheapskate that way. But i can appreciate why some people will play them on their PC.
However, that said. I love playing strategy games , and when it comes to them, no console will beat my PC and its only a Intel Centrino 1.3Ghz! Games like SimCity / RollerCoaster Tycoon and C&C. I'm also partial to a bit of UT2004... yes i like playing all the old games. I still own a copy of Chris Sawyers' Transport Tycoon Deluxe and it only requires a Pentium 100Mhz or so to run.
In short, unless you are seeking an alternative experience by playing on PC, then i would just stick with the 360. It's certainly next on my wish list. If, however you wish to learn the technical aspects of PC gaming (follow jboys advise and check the specs before purchasing) and dont mind the neccesary expenditure then im all for it.
PS Cammy - Monkey Island - GOOD CALL !

i guess i should have just asked straight up how bad will games like battle field 2 and warcraft not WOW be with 80gigs of hard drive 2 gigs of ram and a processor speed of over 2GHz?
Smithh Wright

I would not suggest Battlefield Because It has a lot of system requirements that not
many people have. And of course, Upgrading
costs a lot of money so I would stick to something like command and conquer generals.P.S. there can be a lot of Lag so try to
double check system requirements first K!

im downloading cs right now my friend thinks itll run just fine since someone he knows runs it integrated lol
