OS: Windows XP Home
CPU/Ram: P4 HT
Product: Custom
Comment:

Do you need to be running Windows XP Pro to realize the Hyperthreading capabilities of your processor while gaming. I realize the O.S. has to be XP Pro to realize the HT in the desktop enviroment. But what about during game play?

Thanks for your reply Sabertooth!

Problem is...

I don't understand it.

Would you, or someone else who understands Sabertooth's response to me please elaborate?

Sincerely,
Dave02

don't know what "mu" is.
"IMO" is "in my opinion"

Now about your question: If I go into device manager,it lists my proc. as a multiprocessor.
Pentium 4 3.0Ghz HT, running XP Home.
I think you do need XP Pro to take advantage of the hyperthreading capabilities, but I'm not sure. I don't think any games currently use the hyperthreading.
There are games coming out that will take advantage of the newer dual core processors, in older games the code wasn't written for HT.

To add, check out Microsofts website for info on XP Home/Pro and hyperthreading.

XP Home supports both hyper threading and dual core processors.

What XP Pro supports that XP home doesn't are dual socket (two chip) systems.

Games support depends on the game.

My Super P3:
Pentium III-S 1.4GHz @ 1.5GHz, 512K L2
X800XT All-in-wonder, overclocked to 580/600.
250GB HD
2 gigs of PC2100 RAM
QDI Advance 12 mobo, this baby rocks!
