Hey I am about to build a computer for a friend and i was wondering what peoples opinions of the ATI1600PRO TV-OUT DVI 256MB PCI-EXPRESS card?

It's not the best out there. I'd be shooting for a 7600GT instead.

ATi Radeon 9600 PRO
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
Gigabyte K8NSC-939
1Gb Team Group DDR400
Maxtor 200Gb
450 Watts PSU
4 vents

My friend bought the same card but he bought an old motherboard so the videocard didnt fit and there were no refound on his motherboard so he got the crappiest pci motherboard out there i felt so sorry for him!!:)

I'm not one to tell people to spend money for the heck of it. I'm a big believer in price/performance.
With that said, look very carefully what you're giving up with the X1600Pro instead of the 7600GT. You will have to replace the card far sooner without a doubt. Spend a little more now!
"How many squirrels had to die to make you look fly?!"

now way man. that 512mb ram is overkill for that kind of card. don't bother. assuming that it is in the 200 dollar price range (CAN$$ of course) for a pci_E card you can get a nvidia 7600gt which is much better. be careful because rdeon 9600 is AGP!!!!!!!!! Not pCI-E!!!! DO NOT CONFUSE THE TWO or youre video card will NOT WORK!!!

Looks like he is using a 9600 atm, if you going for x1600pro, go for the AGP version else you can't physically fit PCI-E into AGP... If I were you, I post the motherboard brand and make to ensure you are not buying the wrong parts...
