Perfectly fine of you don't push the limits. I'm guessing 1024x768 with everything on NORMAL, no AA or AF. but that's just my educated guess, so...

Thank you, but I have one more question. Currently, what is the latest version of doom?
Final DOOM, DOOM II, or Ultimate DOOM?

Yup, the 9200 will deffo give D3 a run for it's money. Hell, it plays at 30 FPS on my MX440..........

And yeah, Doom II is the current latest release.

I think It will run a lil bit slow since your vid card is a PCI card not an AGP card...otherwise is good...I think...

I don't think Doom III will require those high-end graphics cards like Farcry and Halo does. However Radeon 9200 Series do not support Direct X 9.0(PS 2.0) meaning the image quality may not be as good as other R96xx-R98xx and FX series. And since your video card is PCI, it's probably going to be slow as hell when you play the game.

PCI bus runs at 33MHz and is 32bits wide, while AGP uses 66MHz and a 64-bit bus. AGP 1 is about as twice as fast as PCI, AGP 2 makes two transfers per cycle, making its maximum data transfer rate 533MBps. AGP 4 has maximum data transfer rate of 1066MBps, and AGP 8 doubles that obviously.

Hi, first of all, thank you for all your help. Second, my 9200 is NOT made by ATI. It is made by VisionTek, and their version of the 9200 DOES support DX9. I even contacted their tech support and they confirmed it. Third, I made a mistake. My video card is actually ISA. No, just kidding, it's PCI. Are you sure it will be that slow??? Because I have UT2004, and it runs just fine with 800x600 and everything on normal.

I dont have an UT2K4, correct me if i'm wrong, but I think that gome does not require Dx9 to play. Try up your resolution to 1024*768 and see what happens afterward...but again...we dont really know for sure till the game hits the market...I have a R9800 Pro but i barely reached 70fps on Call of Duty...CoD hates my system tho...lol...

Call of Duty can run on really low specs, like I couldnt believe how good it ran on my comp..

Im also a bit worried at playn Doom3 as well,

"UnR3aL: I don't think Doom III will require those high-end graphics cards like Farcry and Halo does."

That will be cool, cause i can run FarCry on medium/low settings :D

When games like Ut20004 says Nvidia, it's the way its meant to be played, does that really mean an nvidia would work better on it then an ati?

Of course not. They show the logo because nVidia is paying them to do it and the game is *optimized* for nVidia FX series. However ATi 9800 XT runs much better in Ut2k4 than with FX5950 Ultra.

Im so tired of the battle between nvidia and ati.People here are always asking who's the best? ati or nvidia? The fact is anybody answering that question with one or the other is WRONG,its all opinionated. The fact is both companies make great video cards and depending on your favorite 3d game a nvidia card might run game A better than an ati card, then on the other hand, game B might run better on an ati card. With that said ther are other things to look at such as graphic settings for a particular game.If you set a game @ 1024x768 32bit @85hz with full antialising and full anisotropic filtering on the ati card might get 7 frames per second more than the nvidia card.but now if you keep the settings the same and just bump up the resolution higher the nvidia card may gain the advantage of 7 fps.so to answer the quetion who is better?it cant be done.the only way to get the best video card for yourself is ask your self what settings will i run games at?8x6?1024? 16or32 bit color?will i use any type of filtering?once you have answered these questions you can then do a google search to find benchmarks of those settings for those cards for certain games.

SO WHO'S THE BEST VGA MAKER? see below

Scott: chose ATI (it was the best choice for HIS style of games and settings.

Bill: chose nVIDIA (it was the best choice for HIS style of games and settings.

Well thats my 2 cents worth. Thanks 4 reading

Agreed, Costom Build. Doom 3 was and is optimized on Nvidia cards, despite that it was thought that ATI was gonna run the game better back in the early days and despite that "I am God" John Carmack was running the game on a 9700 Pro back in 2002/early 2003. Half Life 2 is opimized for ATI, but Nvidia cards are running the game perfectly fine. The same goes with Doom 3 and ATI. ID has given ATI the ok to make opimized drivers for Doom 3 and Nvidia is supposively not going to need special drivers for Half Life 2.

Me personally, for now I'm an ATI guy. But who knows later in the future. Whatever is best. They both make amazing hardware. Period.

Think about this too...
id and Valve's job is to make money. Not to dispute who has better harware, ATI or Nvidia. So why would they make a game that can only work for only ATI or Nvidia hardware? Hmm...

The nVIdia FX Series have weak PS/VS 2.0 Support sadly, which is the reason why many people switched back to ATi. But hopefully nVidia will take the #1 Performance crown in a month or so, with their release of FX6800(Nv40). Because NV40 uses 16x1 Pipelines with Dx9C support and ATi's next-generation R420 uses 12x1 Pipelines with no Dx9C support, nVIdia may defeat ATi like it did with their GF4 Ti Series.

b.t.w CustomBuilt i agree with you but nVIdia's FX cards usually perform well at high resolutions. however if you take a look at the benchmarks you'll see that their performance dramatically lowers when it is combined with AA/AF.

Hey, out of topic already. LoL... Anyway, Doom3 being said was optimized for Nvdia and Half Life 2 was optimized for ATI. Hmmm... Lets say what's the difference 60fps and 120fps does it make??? NONE!! cause all games have their speed limiter built in. So no matter how many fps the game runs it still the same. unless the players got an eye of an eagle...LoL

Half-Life 2 will not be optimized for ATi. Yes their will be a fps limiter(may be up to around 90) but the fps won't be the same if one person uses a crappy video card and others dont.

Correct UnR3aL! Make sure the game being played can handle at least 30fps at 800x600 res, if not than save some money and get a new one. cause 30fps is already good enough and 60fps for a silky-baby-butt-smooth experience. Am i correct... :)

For u Mechruler, FX5600 is really a crap. so crap my old GF2Ti is kicking its butt. But FX5600 can be overclocked until it can match the speed of the Ultra counterpart. So overclockable, my FX5600 can almost outperform GF4Ti4800. I overclocked by FX until it reaches over 100% speed increase. Why dont u try it.
