i am a gamer so i have many games. i have 2 hard drives set up, one hard drive is partitioned so 80gb is for the os and the other 160 is for games. i also have another 250gb hard drive for games too. i tried to install all my games on the other hard drive but when i reformat my partition for the os some of the games no longer work. is there a better or smarter way to do this as i like to format every once in a while.?

no matter how many disks or partitions you have, you are only running one OS.

any software that you install can store some files on other partitions, but also needs to make changes to the registry, which is a part of the OS.

so basically, if you erase the OS partition, all software installed on that OS -- regardless of which partition or disk the folders were saved to -- will break.

reformatting can be a useful tool, but start with good OS maintenance: run anti-malware apps, antivirus, delete unnecessary files, defrag, run CCleaner (or some other registry cleanup application), etc.
