I got the sims 2 for xmas but I am lacking the video card to run the game. This is very frustrating! How do I check what my video card is now? What should I upgrade to? How much will it cost? Is there anyone to download anything that would help?

Right-click on desktop. Goto Settings tab. It should say 'xxx on default monitor' or some variation of that.

Right click "My Computer" and choose "Properties", click on the "Hardware tab" then the "Device Manager" button.
Click the + sign by "display adapter" and it should list your video card.
The box that the game came in should give you an idea of "Minimum" and "Ideal" system specs. Look for the recommended video card and go shopping.
www.newegg.com has a good selection and very fast shipping. You will also want to find out if your motherboard has an AGP slot on it, and if it is 2x or 4x or 8x.
"Belarc Advisor" is a good free download.
Also. "Unknown Device Identifier" is another good free download you can use to identify you hardware. Google a search for them.

Good Luck.
