i was wondering your peoples prediction on how long until the directX 10 takes over the gaming scene. I think it wont be for a long time since the cards are so expensive and not everyone can afford one. i dont know, what do u guys think?
Because of the fact that Windows XP has zero support for DX10, I'm betting that DX10 games (when they finally do become popular) will have a DX9 "fallback" mode so that WinXP users will also be able to play.
The way I look at it is DirectX 10 as it stands now is one of the main debut features on Vista, which is apart of Microsoft targeting strategy towards gamers. If DirectX 10 was available for XP as well then that would defeat the purpose of Microsoft’s targeting strategy for Vista.
It’s not like XP can’t support DirectX 10, it’s that Microsoft wants gamers to buy Vista, because it’s the only OS that supports DirectX 10 in which all future graphics cards and games will take advantage of. It’s all about marketing.
Nevermind I spoke too soon. Somebody has managed to rip direct X 10 off Vista and put it into an exe on p2p and it looks like the real deal, because it's 46mb and it's gotten great a green light on emule which means good file.
Well there you go, I guess you can download DirectX 10 unoffically on p2p.
Well from what I was reading the Vista version of DirectX 10 will not work with Windows XP. So whoever put that on p2p it's prob DirectX 9c named DirectX 10. Microsoft is coming out with an DirectX 10 version for XP according to Extreme Tech when they interviewed one of Microsoft's engineers that disigned DirectX 10. DirectX 10b should be the one they release on XP.
In the mean time I wouldn't expect DirectX 10 to be on XP for another year and a half.
