Reply: (edit)I live in Buffalo, NY. MDG setup shop in this area a few years ago, took out full page ads in the local paper offering unbelieveable prices, ripped off a lot of people then closed up without warning. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone! Read the fine print. The price is $799 after MIR (mail-in rebates)...they don't tell you how much you have to pay out initially. Also, this is apparently an old model...notice it says, "Add $300 for 2006 Model" Shop elsewhere.

Reply: (edit)I saw the MIR. You get 2 gigs of ram, 500gig hd, and 19inch lcd. Thats pretty good. Plus I don't care much about the model.

Reply: (edit)"...I don't care much about the model." Then what are you interested in? You said you wanted to know the specs, the model would determine the specs (or I guess I'm just being stupid). "I'll be getting a 7900GT with it" That's great! Do you even know if that board has an AGP or PCI Express x16 slot? Many "bargain" systems come with on-board video and do not come with any expansion slots (except regular PCI which is not much better). IMHO, the seller just isn't giving enough info. Looks like a bait and switch deal to me. Michael J

Reply: (edit)If you wanna deal with a rip-off shop, that's your business. It's amazing how they can offer $2600 in "free upgrades" on a PC that only sells for $799 (after rebates). http://www.mdg.ca/en/products/upgrades/desktop/?from=desktops&tid=em0629 They neglect to list the motherboard model or video card, so it's probably onboard video. They don't list the brand name of the HDD or the speed/type of RAM either. "I don't care much about the model" You'd better ask the right questions. You will care if it turns out to be an older AGP board with DDR1 RAM rather than a PCI-e board with DDR2. I think you're about to make a huge mistake but it would appear that your mind's already made up...why did you even bother to ask if you plan on buying it anyway?

Reply: (edit)Michael J brings up a good point...it does sound like "bait and switch". If you don't know what that means, the $799 offer is the "bait"...that brings you into the store. Then when you find out the PC doesn't have AGP or PCI-e, they show you a more expensive model that does...that's the "switch".

Reply: (edit)Yeah, it's nothing but another "Caveat Emptor" deja vu, they are notorious for counting on the consumers subliminal stupidity or naivete to reel em in. MDG computers lost any credibility with me back in early February because of a false ad regarding their Vision desktop line where they offered a free 750GB HDD upgrade & AFAIK they didn't even exist back then. When I saw it online, at first I thought maybe it wasn't intentional, but they also ran it in print over there in Canada, talk about crooks.

Reply: (edit)Wow, calm down. You don't have to hype on my. The point of this was to get the specs, maybe somebody knew. As I said I know about the MIR and I won't buy it if the ram sucks and there is no PCI-E.

Reply: (edit)"Wow, calm down. You don't have to hype on my [sic]" I'm not trying to make it worse, but you brought it on yourself. First you posted back in 20 minutes because you didn't get an immediate response. If you need an answer that fast then you are not giving yourself enough time to make an informed decision. Then when someone points out some valid reasons to stay away from this vendor you appear not to even take it into consideration. Your main question as I understood it was to get the specs. Since the ad implies this is last year's model and the specs aren't listed on the site you would have to take anything someone says here on faith. Why not call the company and get it strait from them - the number is listed on that web page. I'm sure you would get a much faster response than a message board. of course, as pointed out the "free" upgrades would make that PC worth much more than the advertised price. Even with rebates considered, it seems to be too good to be true. Michael J
