It has come in mind of me that i keep on lagging on a game called call of duty (united offensive) online and i would be cery happy if i can get advice on how i can prevent latency on the game.
I am so far disk defragmenting to see if it can help improve the performance and decrease the lagging and so far it has taken over 8 hours. Does that tell me something?
My system information is:
OS Name: Microsoft Windows Vista (home basic)
Version: 6.0.6000 build 6000
System Type: x86- based pc
Processor: AMD Semprom(tm) Processor 3500+ 2000mhz, 1 core(s), 1 logical proc....
Total physical memory: 445.94 MB
Available physical memory: 68.72 MB
Total virtual memory: 1.41 GB
Available virtual memory: 430.89 MB
Page file space: 1.00 GBThank you

To prevent lagging:
1. upgrade the processor (optional)
2. increase the memory to at least 1GB. 2GB would be even better. (necessary)
3. install a gaming video card (necessary)
4. dump Vista & install XP (optional)

To expatiate, gaming lag is very often described in relation to two scenarios: system hardware or (internet) connection related ping time. In most cases though, the latter is the culprit.
As a matter of fact, when playing online, your ping time could make or break what & where you can play, this is because you automatically get kicked off many game servers if your ping time is detected as being too high -- so the lower, the better. Ideally, you would want something less than 50ms, but you are still not bad with less than 100ms. Having something substantially higher than those figures could impact your gaming online negatively.
If your hardware has been ruled out of the equation as a part cause of your lag issues, you could look into these best practices & more.

The internet connection may be part of the problem, but I suspect the hardware config is the main culprit.
Sempron 3500+
512MB RAM (but 64MB goes to video)
Geforce 6100And he's running Vista!

ok first i will change the memory after 3 months vidoe card then 6 motnhs after the processot then at last into xp does that sound ok?
hi

NO, that doesn't sound good.
If you upgrade the memory, you don't need to get XP. But if you want to play games & play them well, you need memory AND a video card. The CPU can wait. Try to upgrade the memory & video at the same time. Shop online for your best price(s).
