Like I told you in your other post...if you order a system from CyberpowerPC or iBuypower, you need to know your hardware. Obviously you don't.

- the 420W PSU in that NZXT case is garbage...hopefully you planned on ordering a better one?

- I suppose you can make an argument for a quad core CPU but IMHO, it'll be quite some time before quads before "necessary".

- You'd be better off with a board based on the Intel P35 chipset.

- The 8500GT is NOT a good gaming card. It's very low end & certainly doesn't need 512MB memory. Two of them in SLi aren't even as good as one 8600GT 256MB card...& the 8600GT isn't even that great a card! SLi configurations are a complete waste of money anyway. Stick with a single good card like the 8800GTS 320MB (NOT the 640MB).

- RAID-0 is a bad move as well & why on earth would you want 4 x 80GB HDD w/8MB buffer? You'd be better off getting one 320GB HDD with 16MB buffer.

The only thing you did right was the RAM.

I just ran thru CyberpowerPC & "built" a MUCH better system for $1163 & it would kick the living crap out of your configuration.

"wont it not let me use dx10?"

We already went thru this. DX10 cards work fine with XP...DX9 cards work fine with Vista!

The 8500GT is a DX10 card...a crappy low performance DX10 card, I might add. How come getting an 8500GT (or two) isn't a problem but getting a 8800GTs is?

There is nothing wrong with the 8500GT, in fact an 8500GT SLI setup would be interesting to just see how it performs. The main selling point of the 8500GT is it's price.

I am running one and have no slow downs, or performance issues, and it seems alot faster than my 6800GT, but the 6800GT was on my old agp celery system.

If one can afford it, I would of course go for the top of the line, but there is nothing wrong with the 8500GT

Give me a break...the 8500GT sucks. Your 6800GT is MUCH better! My guess is the rest of your Celly system sucked & didn't allow the 6800GT to show it's true colors. In case there's any doubt, have a look at the benchmark comparison:

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graph...

For the cost of two of 8500GT's (approx $75 x 2), you could get one good card that would blow the 8500GT SLi config away!

Neither do I. But apparently it's OK for you, but when other people do it, it's wrong?

I'm not here to be politically correct, I'm here to help. Admittedly, some of my responses may "sting" once in a while, but they are rarely without provocation. And although I'm sure you think otherwise, I rarely if ever call people names in these forums...I know better. I may say a particular hardware choice sucks, such as I did with the 8500GT above, but I almost always back up my claim(s) with a reputable weblink so that people don't think I'm just talking out of my a$$. I've been a regular on CN for many years & have helped out more people than you'll ever come close to helping. And I've even tried to help you a few times in the past.

Most of your responses lately have been how "mean" & "racist" people are in these forums...you have offered little or nothing in terms of actual help.

Meh, everyone has their favorites. I just know that I dont have money right now, and the 8500GT was right in my price range. I have seen the benchmarks, but you have to remember that those benchmarks are from tomshardware and they have been caught before setuping up benchmarks to favor what they like.

Since I own a 8500gt, and a 6800GT, I can clearly say the 8500GT is the winner, BUT this is on my new system and the 8500GT is PCI-E while the 6800GT was AGP. And my celery didn't suck, the board went on me, so I upgraded. It was a 2.8ghzcelery(oced to 3.48) with 1gb PC400 OCed to 412mhz(digi4me.com) the AGP was 8X and it was an intel 848P chipset.

I'm sure if I bought a 6800GT "PCI-E" card, it would be faster than my 8500GT, but the 6800GT is showing its age and there are ALOT of issues with the nvidia drivers and the 6XXX series these days, the card would'nt run anything above 82.XX for me. The 8500GT installed the latestest drivers with out a hitch, maybe cause the 6800GT was AGP??? All-in-all, the 8500GT(even though he's not going to buy it) is a good card for the money, and I love mine, but if I could afford it, I would have gotten a 8600GT, or better. I will NEVER buy an ATi card though. Tried it, have the scars.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure your setup is overkill compared to most other peoples :) I would try getting higher rated DDR2 RAM though(DDR2-900). And it seems you have money to burn, so I would suggest an SLI setup, 2 8800's maybe??? heh, sick.

doomhammerr,

Your new config is MUCH better than the 1st one. You don't need faster RAM unless you plan on overclocking considerably. Always work with the frequency numbers when matching up CPU & RAM, not the theoretical quad-pumped & double-pumped numbers. A 1333MHz FSB CPU has a frequency of 333MHz. DDR2-800 has frequency of 400MHz. In other words, DDR2-800 RAM will allow you at least a 66MHz CPU freq increase over the stock freq of 333MHz before you have to worry about the RAM holding you back. And even then, the RAM will overclock somewhat beyond 400MHz, so you'll have a fair amount to room to work with.

Outlander,

Performance-wise, there's no difference between the AGP version & PCI-e version of the same card. A 6800GT AGP is equal to a 6800GT PCI-e. I don't know how you had your Celly system configured, but the Celly is a weak CPU...it doesn't matter that it was overclocked. I stand by my statement that the 6800GT is better than the 8500GT.

Your new system may be faster, but it's because of the board, CPU & RAM combination, not because of PCI-e vs AGP or because the 8500GT is better than the 6800GT. Clearly the 6800GT is the better card. If you don't like the Tom's Hardware reviews, find me a hardware site that will back up your claim, because I can find several that will back up mine.

Let me ask you this...which card is faster, a 6600GT 128MB or a 6800GT 256MB? I'll assume your answer is 6800GT. Now look at this site showing the 6600GT 128MB beating the 8500GT 256MB is EVERY gaming benchmark:

Here's another comparison:

Ask yourself that question before point to someone else around. I always use your own quotes to point out how "invalid" you can be in terms of helping people around.
