I have a very serious problem with my computer. It seems that I always have problems installing games, especially newer ones. The two games I have not been able to install are Battlefield 2 and Republic: the revolution. This is really bad for me because I built this computer to play games. My computer is absolutly able to handle the games, but they just dont install.

When I try installing Battlefield 2, it proceeds normally until I get to disk 2. Then, a number of errors appear. It will either freeze up, become very slow, or say that some strange file, (something like "xxx.cab", or "xxx.dll") could not be opened. All of these things result in the failure of installation, upon which it says :could not install Battlfield 2, please try again from the begininng.

The demo worked and installed fine without any problems, and I deleted it because I read somewhere that demos can interfere with the actual game, but no luck.

For republic: the revolution, it proceeds just fine until disk two, where it says immediatly: "xxx.bin" could not be opened, and when I explore further, it says that the file is corrupted or something similarly ominous.

I also had this kind of things happen when installing Generals CNC, but i got through somehow after trying a few times.

These problem really have me worried, and I am afraid to buy games now because they dont install.

Can someone please help?

Thank you very much. What CD do you use, and how exactly do I use it? The Windows XP install disk?

I know it is not my CD drive, or my CDs, becuase they are 100% scratch free, and I have tried multiple copies of Battlefield 2, but none work.

I got a Republic to work by accessing the Bin.cab file it said could not be found, and running a test on it. I am not sure why it worked this time, as I had done the same thing before. (but had not run a test on the files)

I still cant get BF2 to work. If it is a memory error, is it possible to switch the RAM in the computer, then install the game, and then put the original RAM back in to play the game?
