man, after and i reinstalled the CS:S. the game is so slow, i realized it is the video slow, not the connection. the ping is around 50-70. but the fps is less than 20! holy smoke! i am using geforce 6800 and i only gets 15-20fps? but when i face to the wall, i got 82-99, when i turn around, so lag. the fps drops crazy. any one knows why?

Got AA and/or AF cranked in display settings?

Remember Nvidia cards don't perform comparably as well as ATI cards in HL2.

Running newest drivers for the video card?

What res are you running at?

yea using the latest version, with 1024x768, i have tried 800x600, same. heres the setting:
model detail- high
texture detail- high
water detail- simple reflection
shadow detail- high
Antialiasing mode- 4x
filtering mode- Anisotropic 8X
shade detail- high
wait for vertical sync- disable
i turned all the detail high cuz i believe 6800 can handle this all. before i was using the FX5950, it wasnt like this, the average fps was around 60-86. and has never dropped below 40fps.

Look for a utility there to completely remove the video card drivers. Then reinstall them.

BTW, a 6600GT in CS:S = a Radeon 9800 Pro in benchmarks. Like I said, Nvidia doesn't comparably do as well as ATI in HL2. :-/

turn off Antialiasing and Anisotropic filters. let it be aplication controled. or set it to lower settings. you should play with the settings before you just set them all to "highest".

Agreed. AA and AF make a huge difference. Also V-Sync sucks and causes artifacts in some games. About the Nvidia thing. I had a Geforce FX 5700 and I ran HL2 and Doom3 at max settings, excluding AA and AF, without a hitch.
