I've been playing HL2 for a couple of hours or so each night for about a week now and I've just left the grave yard where that nutter was and entered the mine. For the last two nights I've been playing with my headphones on and....Oh my god it's spooky. The phisics are so bloody real and intence my hairs stand on end when one of those thing with two or three spider things jumps out on me and and starts throwing it's 4 legged bean bags at me. I'd just got into the mines last night and I was walking up this slope. When I looked into a cravis in the rock there were two meat heads standing there ready to go HHoooooorrrrr. At the very same time my cat decided to jump onto my keyboard. Soild undercloths is putting it mildly.

I'm a bit concerned though. I remember when I first got into FarCry and it was fantastic for the first part but then I spent most of the second half undergraound shooting monsters. I hope a don't spend the rest of HL2 underground seeing nothing but rock formations, zombies and some super duper lighting effects. To some it up theough, HL2 is a fantasting piece of work, though a bit too real sometimes, and I love it appart from the fact that it tries to connect to the internet evertime I start the game which slows loading time to about 5 minutes by the time your acctually playing.

Can't wait for the 'stutter' patch to arrive and HL3 (yeah right)

The mine section is very short thankfully, you'll soon be oooing and arrring at the sunlight again :-)

Some people are like Slinkies, not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs...

Wanna see REALLY scary?
Well give Silent Hill 3 a try, briliant game.

- Use headphones or a good audio system
- play preferably at night/alone
- no walkthrough or cheats! (just put the puzzle level at easy or medium the first time)
- if you start to panic just pause and take a 5 min break and get up and get some fresh air or a coke or something, but finish what you start! It's only about 6 to 12 hours long anyway.
- I got it used at amazon for US$10 (PC-DVD or PS2) Worth every penny!

--------------

- good graphics (switch "noise filter" off)
- good story (direct continuation from SH1)
- amazing audiovisual atmosphere
- nice action and control for a horror game
- great replay value (on the second run you can even get a light sabre!!!)
- oh, and your character is a cute chick too.

After SH3 a subway ride will never be the same again.

Have Fun.

Peace.

I agree, the 'new' spider things are pretty scary i find a good shot in the facwe with the shotgun sends them off no end, problem is there always about 4 of them left. Quite annoying to say the least. I myself am thouroughly impressed by the gamwe, not only the physics, graphics etc but the story line and the amazing looking characters.

WOOP FOR VALVE!
