Could someone tell me where I can find the save files for HL2. I want to remove the game completly and reintall it but I'm quite a way into it and I don't want to loose where I am. Since installing the game, all of my other games are running like sh*t so I might even consider a complete format.

Also has anyone else ever tried to reinstall HL2. Are there going to be issues with getting that stupid Steam thing to re-activate my game. I've printed out all of my passwords and what not so hopefully there won't be an issue.

Thanks

GaryM

I think it would leave your saved games anyway, but (from memory) the path is:

c:\program files\valve\steamapps\username\hl2\save

I haven't tried reinstalling HL2 but I can't see that there would be any issues as long as you reinstall it on the same machine (obviously).

Thanks dannyboy,

I thought it wouls leave the files behind but if a re-instal doesn't clear my slow dow problem then I will be doing a format and full re-instal of XP as well so I will be backing up my save files.

Cheers

GaryM

Try defragging your hard drive first - if you are using Steam it seems to chuck the files all over

I defragged the drive and it made a world of difference
