Comment: I recently have been noticing very high pings in games, i get a ping of 180 - 275 while playing Counter-Strike, i am behind a router and have no virus's or spyware. My whole computer is updated (BIOS, Windows etc.) I re-formated and installed windows again and still no can do. I download at a standard 120kbps - 212kbps and browse the net pertty good. I only been having this problem for abought a month now. Before i would get the same browsing speed and download speed as now but, i got around 30-80pings on games always. IT was like out of the blue i started pinging high. I wonder if someone is pinging me or i should reboot my router. It was all working good untill abought a month ago. Please help

Reply: (edit)Sometimes the high pings are server side, are you getting high pings on fast servers? Are you on a home network? Are you using Zone Alarm firewall? (ZA has issues with online gaming) It might even be an ISP problem (i.e. more people joining your exchange). You can try pinging google/yahoo.com and check the speed of your connection. Better still get a speed test @: dslreports ER4S3R.
