Hi from Australia. Ok i'm going to write a long description about my problem, so l apologize if this is an inconvenience. Anyway basically the situation is l am trying to run/install, leisure suit larry 1-7 (the old larry games) plus many more dos games that l love on ms-dos 7.10, or on windows 98 SE.
My story is and please keep in mind i'm pretty average at computers/programs, for nearly 2 months now l have tried to get these games to run, now l already know of dosbox but l actually prefer to use original ms-dos, or a real one (and l know everyone loves dosbox but thats me, also l know win 98 comes with dos but l prefer 7.10) I have been mucking around with virtual machines, l only discovered that they existed like 2 months ago and l thought l'd experiment with them to get my old games running. I've tried, virtual box, virtual pc, and qemu, but qemu seems too complicated to use for me. And vmware you have to pay, except vmware player is free (l think).

Now right at this moment, l am trying to run leisure suit larry ultimate pleasure pack (and other dos games) that l got from ebay, and markets/abandonware sites, and l want to install them on ms-dos 7.10, ON a windows 98 SE operating system that i've got installed on microsoft virtual pc (hope that makes sense lol) strangely enough l have a fascination with old programs like these.
I only discovered that there was a free ms-dos 7.10 just last week, and the problem l was having the other day is that after l downloaded it from their site (ms-dos 7.10), l tried installing it on 98 se but l got nowhere, l have vista (apart from the virtual machine) but from what i've read you have to be a genius to install it on there. One question l have is are you meant to install ms-dos 7.10 actually in windows 98 se, or from the dos mode section, because yesterday l installed it via windows 98 se and l received an error message stating that l had to reboot my computer for the ms dos program to install (or something like that). Another question l have is does ms dos 7.10 come with a cd drive already recognised in the system? And what commands should l use to get it running from my d: drive or even c: drive if l install the larry games on harddrive. I used dos many years ago and l forgot what to type in.
I'd be really appreciative of any advice and also because its free, and without sounding like a pain in the backside if u can give me any answers, with some clear instructions would be great, i'm also trying to learn about all of this myself too.
So all in all l want to play dos games on ms-dos 7.10/win 98 se, please explain how?
My laptop specifics are below:

Manufacturer: Hewlett-packard
Model: Hp compaq 6720s
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Business
CPU/Ram: 2.001 GHz / 2038 MB
Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
Sound Card: SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio

Thanks ciao.
Aaron.
