help unable paly half life2

Specs: Windows xp, 1 g
i need help regarding problem to play half life 2.the system specs i could tell you all is, it has

processer duo core intel
1 gigabait of ram
gigabait type motherboard
lg lcd
nvidia 8600gt 256 mb
windows xp

for info i have no problem playing midevil 2, on average setting, but on high setting a yellow line start to show up (vga problem i think), half life2 is ok the running is good no stuck or slow, grafic is just beautiful, BUT, its keep saying an updates needed and then later crash with blue sreen...huhuhu

i think of updates my computer with this GeForce/ION Driver Release 190 Version:190.62 WHQL plus PhysX System Software version 9.09.0814.(found in internet)
is this act wise??? do advise tq

Well you might not be meeting up with the game's requirements have you tried to check the full requirements if matches your system.

CANNOT really tell u what the blue screen show becouse i already uninstall it,
but i can remember it tell something about physical memory dumping like that
mybe my vga nvidia 8600gt need an updates, never done that bfore, first time so need some opinion from the expert

Wait don't do the updates yet sometimes updates is the cause of sudden blue screen problems.So try to see first the original driver then run the game.

what do u mean by original driver?? my nvidia 8600 gt driver??
i do take afford searching for an updates in the nvidia web site and found one:
GeForce/ION Driver Release 190 Version:190.62 WHQL for nvidia 8600 gt
the question is i don't really sure whether i'm doing it right or not,
(the updates things) is this the right updates,,,do advise thx

Well it is right but some time has a bugs that can make some problems on the system. Like your system could not catch up with update driver. But not so sure becasue most of people do the updates encounters some problems after doing it. So they just end up with the driver that is along with the product.

so if somehow my updates screw up (error), what will happen to my pc in term of the graphic performance?? do it get worse and if it does (worse), could i undone the updates??

Well you can try to see if restore will get your old drivers wihtou updates back or uninstall the graphic's driver the install the driver that is with video card when you have bought it.
