Help! nVidia Drivers & CnC GENERALS

My system is pretty new, I have A7N8X-E Deluxe with AMD Athlon 2600 (1.91G), GeForce FX 5600 256MB & 1024 RAM. Call of Duty, MOHAA, & AOM run fine. But CnC Generals is lagging on the startup and before mission movies even though the game itself runs pretty fast. I think it might be drivers. I installed the Latest nVIdia Graphic Driver and the Utility/Platform, did not install 3D Driver. Is that the problem? Do i need more drivers? Please help.

Get the latest version of Generals along with ALL the drivers, even the 3D one or whatever. Also, in the options menu of Generals, try turning off 3D shadows and cloud shadows for better performance but worse visual quality. Also run "chkdsk" in the run menu and defrag your PC.

It's a known issue with Generals AND Zero Hour, laggy intro videos on GeForce cards, read the readme, funnily enough........

Run scandisk(or chkdsk), defrag your hd, and scan for any viruses/spywares. Next, go to msconfig and uncheck any start ups you don't need(LoadPowerProfile, TaskManager).
If this doesn't help, try enabling DMA for your hd and install the latest windows updates and drivers
