IMO, buy a new videocard.

Oh, What the Heck?!

Alright, What is the brand of your videocard?

Note: BTW, no regrets if you render your card useless.

P.S. go to this site http://www.guru3d.com/

Thanks dude "buy a new card" LOL I barely got that one off ebay well anyways its an nvidia geforce3 ti500 and brand i think the guy with perfect feedback lied becuase it said it was a hercules prophet ti500 but ive researched those prophets online and they look way different then what i got for example the prophets have blue board mine is green, both have blue heatsink but different shape and the HSF are way off so I dont know what I have but Im coming to believe is that I may have a VisionTek because ive seen some on ebay and in tomshardware that looks exactly like mine same everything except the HSF well anyways if you want to see an actual picture of my card view here

I really see no reason you should flash your vid card to play dvd's.even crap onboard video has no problem playing dvd's.

are u sure u just dont need software such as power dvd or windvd?

please elaborate m0re on the problem your having.

flashing bios of any type be it mother board or video should be a last resort as it can cause more problems than its worth.

What kind of flash utility do you use? What make was the bios that you used to flash?(reference, asus, evga, etc.)

If you used wfflash before download nvflash(you can find in search googles) and use that instead.

Last time I used it to flash my 5900se -> 5950u I think the commands were

'a:\nvflash -b original.rom'
backs up your original bios

a:\nvflash -f whatever.rom -u -p'
flash command(i think you need to add more commands)

anyway I think there are newer versions and etc. so you should research a bit around forums before you flash again. you're pretty lucky because some people flashed their video cards and they had to *Blind* flash(with the monitor screen black) it back to its original bios.

hope this helps..

oh and b.t.w, do you mind if you can post the link to that website you went?

Ok jim here goes.

Download and extract nvflash to a FORMATED floppy.download nvflash version 4.41 here
http://www.nvplanet.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=10

now download THE CORRECT BIOS for your video card and put that on the same floppy with nvflash.you can rename the bios file "new"(makes it easier to remeber come flash time)

Ok now restart your computer with a 98 or ME bootdisk.once it loads choose start computer with cd-rom support.when thats done you should have an a: prompt.at that point remove the floppy and insert the floppy you made with nvflash on it.now type -B old.bin this will take your current bios and back it up on the floppy in case u need it later.ok now type nvflash -fnew.rom if you did rename the bios file "new" otherwise type the name of the file u downloaded.Thats it,it should have flashed your vid card.If it doesnt say flash successful and instead u got some sort of error you can try this.

a:nvflash -p -u -fnew.rom
or new.bin depends on what file you have.

that command line will force a flash regardless of errors so make sure you have the right bios

Good Luck!

Oh wow new approach to it, Well I hope your still with me ok now new questions...you said formated? is that just a normal floppy not a bootable floppy? and that site where I got the bios it has like 2 bios's 3.20.00.29 (Ti500) and 3.20.00.20 (Ti500)
and the first one it says this Changes:
3.20.00.29 (Ti500) solves an issue with the TV Out function for Creative GF3Ti500 cards with a conexant chip. and like I dont know if I have a creative so I d/l the 2nd one but the problem is that it came with 3 rom files and I dont know which one I should put in the floppy or should I put all 3??can you please help me out with this thanks Custom Built for all your help.

Ok to format a floppy stick a floppy in your floppy drive-open my computer-right click on your a: drive-choose format-click start.this will erase all contents on the floppy.also make sure in the file system box it says fat32.

ok now u need to physically pull your video card to find out what brand it is.if its hercules u should goto their site for bios.you can flash your card with nvidia bios or other mfg's such as asus creative pny evga as long as the model "gf3ti500" is the same.but u are trying to specifically solve an issue with the tv out function so a bios that fixes that issue is a must.once you pull your card also look for a chip on the card that says connexant or phillips or whatever.this is the brand of the tv-out chip and u will need bios for that particular brand.if your card has a connexant chip you can use the creative bios.

once again

a:nvflash -bold.bin (saves current bios)
a:nvflash -fnew.rom (flashes new bios)
a:nvflash -p -u -fnew.rom (forces flash)

remeber whatever bios u use to rename it new so u dont have to remeber all the numbers.

Ok so I now got the bootdisk for ME so then I restarted put start WITH CD-ROM support then I typed the commands and it gave me this "CDR101:not ready reading drive E" then I restarted again but now i picked start WITHOUT CD-ROM support and now it gave me the bad file or command line but as I was writing this I dont even know if I switched out the disks(when i went with start WITHOUT CD-ROM support) so I may try that just to make sure. but are your really sure its start WITH CD-ROM support? and if so how can i fix that error and also just to add that nvflash that I d/l came with 2 files nvflash and cwsdpmi I just included nvflash do I put both thanks for the help.

yes u need both files and the bios file on one floppy.
yes use start computer with cdrom support and make sure your typing correctly.you dont need to type the "a:" it should already be there when the floppy is done loading.

How fast is my 72x cdrom?
it cuts my install times in half.
Is it loud?Nooo its the most quiet cdrom ive ever heard, virtually silent.ill be very bummed when mine dies because they no longer make em.hers a link to a picture if u want to see it.
