Specs: Windows 7, intel core i3 ram 3gb
can you help me with this? I recently bought an asus k52jc-ex138 laptop . There was no preinstalled os so i installed windows 7 ultimate 32 bit .The problem is that any game except the windows games(minesweeper cards, microsoft tinker, etc) starts with a black screen but there is sound like the game is actually runing.I've tried hd games like serious sam hd and they have the same problem .The laptop is still new and covered by warranty but i don't want to send it to asus because i'll have to wait months to get it back so please tell me if i can fix this myself

Sounds like a video card driver problem. Since you say your system had no pre-installed OS, Win7 is using default drivers which is why normal windows games run fine and others that run in outside the normal windows layer do not.

Look for the device drivers for your laptop on a search engine and then download them. Once installed your games will run fine I suspect.

I agree with MisterGopher. The OS will load generic drivers, but if you want your system to perform at it's best, you will have to search for & install the *real* drivers. You'll need them for the motherboard chipset, video, sound, network, wireless, etc.

i am sorry i forgot to tell you that after installation i have installed ALL the programs and drivers for my laptop from the asus cd.I have resarched and i think that it might be a hardware problem because i've got two gpus a lightweight intel gma and a heavy duty nvidia ge force 310 m 1 gb
i think there might be a problem with shutting down the intel accellertor and starting the nvidia one.Evrything else works fine video playing ,hd films ,etc.Only fullscreen games have this issue . please help

"i've got two gpus a lightweight intel gma and a heavy duty nvidia ge force 310 m 1 gb"

You have one or the other, not both. The GMA is definitely lightweight garbage, but the 310M is far from "heavy duty"...it's considered to be "entry level". Uninstall the GMA drivers, your notebook has nVidia graphics.

I don't actually have two gpus the intel gpu is only used with the desktop and aero effects while the nvidia card is used with games , video editing, etc.The nvidia card has something called optimus technology which switches the card off when not required and the pc uses the intel gpu , the two cards don't work at the same time.As i said the netbook is brand new and except manufacturing mistake there couldn't be any hardware issues. As for the drivers , i used only the drivers provided on the cd so they can't be faulty .

the actual problem is that all fullscreen games start with a black screen but the sound is there. For example gun from activision i start the game and there's the black screen ,i can hear the adverts and after the adverts i can hear the game but the screen is still black. It doesn't correct itself when i run it in compatibility mode for xp or in windows xp mode.Could it be that my screen resoluton is set to 1366 x 768? I've tried lowering it but it doesn't help .I can't find any compatibility settings in the nvidia control panel or the intel hd graphics control panel .I've been thinking to downgrade to xp x64 but i can't find all the drivers and the laptop doesn't have a floppy drive . Can you help me?

great news! i've fixed it and i'm now playing serious sam hd.The fix for anyone else who has that problem is uninstall the nvidia driver from the cd and install the latest one from the nvidia site .It looks like asus is sending faulty drivers with their cd

Sorry, I didn't realize that your laptop uses "switchable graphics technology"...it doesn't say anything about it on the spec page.
