I bought The Sims 2 and Half-Life 2 and they are both terribly slow.
My System:
Graphics: ATI Radeon 9200-128mb video memory
Processor: Intel Celeron-2.4GHz
Hard Drive: 7.26 GB of free space

ur graphics card will is abit old, u might want to upgrade that, how mich me ory do u have, what speed is it?
ur CPU seems ok.I suggest u shud get a new GFX card...IE
128MB Radeon 9600XT
DVI & TV-OUT
or
128MB Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro
DVI & TV-OUT

your video card and the CPU man. and the main problem is your ram is low, you need at least 512mb. 1GB would be better
P4 3.2GHZ
kingstom 1GB DDR 3200
Nvidia geforce FX 5950 256mb

I think everyone is very confused lol.
WackyZ - That system should be able to run half-life 2, because its a very very well written game and works on a big range of PCs. Just try turning all of your settings to minimum, if its ok then, slowly start turning some of them up, till the slowness rears its ugly head again :D
Also, the term memory is related to RAM, sticks of the stuff. It doesn't refer to the physical disks (the hard drives). So when he asked memory an answer would be more like 256mb RAM or 512 for example.Bitboy - He said video RAM, not system. :)
But yeh, tbh, as lister says, it would be best to get a new graphics card. HL2 is a beautiful game, and it deserves to be seen in all its glamour.
Don't even get me start on the sims..tsk tsk

no he didnt ask for video memory, he just tell us his spec. the main problem he got now is his RAM is low, only 256mb? the sims 2 minimum recommands 256mb ram. before you run the game, press ctrl-alt-del and check how much memory available on task manager. you dont have 256mb available, right? thats why is slow, of course you can still play it, but it would be slow as hell. upgrade your RAM to 512mb, it would run faster on sim2, but i am sure its still slow. because i got an old PC that exactly like his, and it has 768mb ram, ATI 9200 and celeron 2.6ghz, cuz the CPU or maybe the video card. celeron processor is not that good. P4 and celeron, both are 2.6ghz, P4 is much faster. and for HL2, his video card is OK, but his ram is low. so i suggest upgrade your RAM first, get up to 512mb(recommanded,and especially if you are using DDR PC2100). 1GB would be better if you can afford.
P4 3.2GHZ
kingstom 1GB DDR 3200
Nvidia geforce FX 5950 256mb

i agree with myazuid, his specs should run it, see:
http://computing.net/gaming/wwwboard/forum/3501.html

i know, but his point is these 2 games are running slow, not couldnt run it
P4 3.2GHZ
kingstom 1GB DDR 3200
Nvidia geforce FX 5950 256mb

Thank u all for ure help.
I've added 512 Megabytes of RAM to my PC and the 2 games are running perfectly.
Thank u all again and happy holidays.
