Negative - your standard DVD-ROM is incompatible.

At the present time, you'll need to purchase either a Blu-Ray drive for Blu-Ray discs or an HD-DVD drive for HD-DVD discs.

While I can't tell you what to go for, I'd say to hold out for now, there are "Hi Def" drives in the works that when released will read both formats.

I'll tell you this though. While each side of the format camp is simulteanously declaring propaganda victory, almost on a weekly basis - in actuality, there is no clear winner as of right now & I don't even see any at the end of the tunnel. Only gullible losers, which unfortunately, are those buyers that are letting themselves get carried away by the mindless frenzy - trying to quickly get their hands on one over the other.
