Minimum System Requirements

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Second Edition, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows XP.
Computer/Processor: 733 megahertz (MHz) processor.
DirectX: DirectX® 9.0 or later. (DirectX 9.0b is installed by Halo.)
Memory: 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM.
Hard Disk: 1.2 gigabytes (GB) of free hard disk space.
Video card: 32 MB with 3D Transform and Lighting capable.
CD: 8X.
Sound: Sound card, speakers, or headphones with multiplayer play.
*56.6 Kilobytes per second (KBps) modem or 10 MB network adapter. Multiplayer servers require broadband to run a server.
*Additionally, you must have an Internet Service provider (ISP) or a Local Area Network (LAN), if you want to play multi-player games.

Try upgrading your vga card. The Nvidia TNT2 is a 32mb card but does it have 3d Transform and is it Lightning capable? I don't even know why you would want to play Halo with a vga card like that, Halo is a very hardware-depending game. Even the best video cards out there are not enough to play Halo w/o lag.

I couldnt get halo to run properly on my other computer.. other one is a p4 1.8, 512 pc 2100 ddr, geforce 2 64mb sd video card.. halo ran like crap on the demo.. so I uninstalled it.. built a new computer recently.. put in a p4 3.2 OC to 3.55ghz, 1gb pc 3200 ddr, 10k 73gb sata hdd, asus 9800xt.. everything runs great including HALO!! some stuff that still bothers me that doesnt run perfectly.. that is on higher resolutions with full detail.. but oh well.. multiplayer runs great for me even on 1280x1024 everything full detail.. if anything though.. i would just go out and replace the video card.. if anything i have seen the 9600xt video cards go down as low as around $170..
