Since this new update 1.03, I can`t play online anymore for some reason im getting ridiculous high server pings?? try to connect then fails (attention network connection lost) i have cable internet and cant figure out why the hell this is happening?? anyone with a cure to this prob please help

I'm having a similiar problem with Halo. I updated to version 1.03 the day it came out (Tuesday i think). Well....after that, when i go into multiplayer=>internet game=> the servers listed have higher pings than normal, plus fewer servers than normal, and fewer people than normal. To top it off, everything listed in the readme file for 1.03 update isn't working or isn't there. For example, 1.03 is supposed to show each players ping when the score board (F1) is opened, it doesn't. The score board is also supposed to show your assists in real time, it doesn't. Plus, i can't find anything relating to team killer control..perhaps the admin controls this?? I also cannot find a lag free game for some reason. I'm starting to think that all the servers listed have not updated to 1.03 from 1.02. However, i thought updating was mandatory in order to play online?? I checked for games today with the same result. I'm thinking of waiting a week for the servers to catch up i.e. update to 1.03, maybe that will correct this.

FYI, i'm not getting any error messages regarding my cable internet connection, that is i can still play online, but with reduced bandwith and fewer servers. I'm lost as well.

well at least you can still play & connect:P Im hanging to play my halo yet still the same high pinging servers ranging from (900`s to over 1600) can`t connect:(
im losing my mind seaching for answers.

Get this strangely enough my friend has 56k dial up he still can play online no problem..Grrr!! he also told me there were nothing to update on his (weird huh)?? man i just bought this darn game so i can whip his ass ;)

Im thinking the same about servers maybe still having updating too, i can only hope that could relate my ping prob?

I found a solution to my problem, but havn't found one for your's. I run halo with a no-cd crack so i don't have to pop in a cd every time i want to play. Well..the crack is for version 1.02. I tried running the game from the normal halo.exe from the cd, and everything is working fine. Servers, low pings, and everything the 1.03 readme says it does. I just need to find a no-cd crack for 1.03, in the meantime i have to run the game with the cd.

LMAO, your kidding! well the reason i just bought the game because i did have the no cd crack running for v1.02 damn was hard to find to!! now i got my own cd and this high ping crap had to happen :(

No im not on a router? although i have 2 firewalls (blackice and norton2002)game is allowed to run through both and i`ve tried shutting them down in case something being blocked but it aint making any differance arrrh!!!

WEll guess what..I`VE GOT IT WORKING :)))) YAAAY!! sweet it was my damn norton all this time somehow i had it running as it never let me down blocking anything before prompting me? so im sure happy to see pings down as low as 20 now. man that`s even better than before the this new patch :S

Norton has a habit of slowing things down, i have it disabled (auto-protect that is). Another one is Zonealarm (i hate this program, it always asks for permision to do anything on the internet. It also screws up my network (4-port d-link router) when enabled. So i usually disable both these programs when running anything internet or game related. Isn't a router supposed to be a hardware firewall anyway?? My dad swears it doesn't work, so he always has zone alarm running, i think hes being over cautious.

p.s also they`ve got another patch 1.031 but its causing probs again (whats new) usually after game finishes and cycles to following map, i`ve posted a temporary fix i found from the gearbox forum

HELP! I cant get past the multiplayer screen that passes Checking for updates, ALWAYS IT HAS TO DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE this is getting on my nerves. PLease help me, ive tried nearly everything.
