Making maps for Halo, or any other game that supports custom content, requieres a few programs (and some money). You may need somthing like Adobe Photoshop, Paintshop or a decent design program to make textures and bitmaps. (Photoshop goes for about $700, there are probably a few alternatives to it). Next, which is the most expensive component, you need a program called 3DS Max, made by Autodesk (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=5659302&siteID=123112) 3DS Max is 3D modeling, animation, and modeling software. However, 3DS Max costs $3,000 for the basic edition. (There are several less expensive alternatives to 3DS Max, some are even free. If you use alternitive software, you may need to download a program to convert files made in the software to a 3DS Max file). You will need all the programs provided in the Halo Editing Kit (HEK). Just google it for the many download links. Creating maps requiers some technical and computer skills, and takes some time to perfect. There are also many Web sites, fourms, and chats for Halo PC modders and mapmakers, such as www.halomaps.org, halodev.org, and many others. These online communities are absolutely neccary as I am sure you will be lost (everyone is). There are some videos on the subject on http://www.halomods.com/index.php?t...
