Yes, you need to update your video card drivers.

What video card do you have, and what drivers are you running?

Does anything here help?

I had Halo PC working fine. Then i rebooted my hard disk back to factory settings and installed SP2, now Halo wont play. It loads the small loading screen, then moves on to the full screen loading screen then disappears without a word or any reason why its happening. I also have Direct X9.0B so the suggestion of not having it is out of the question.

My PC:
Windows XP Home(Service Pack 2)
Pentium 4 - 2000MHz
768MB-DDR-RAM (with 2000MB virtual RAM also)
256MB GeForce FX5600XT Graphics card
750Kbps broadband
