Well Halo 2 is out today. I've not gotten the opportunity to play it on XBOX but I am looking forward too. So with that in mind here's the burning question...

Is Halo 2 going to be ported to the PC and if so, is it going to be a good port or a piece of sh** port that dogged every good system out there (for the time when it came out, a P4 2.6C, 5700 ultra and 512 mb of memory was impressive).

How long does porting games take on average?
I really am desperate to see San Andreas on the PC, I'm not willing to settle for a PS2 version and I know that it's been confirmed for next year and Rockstar are already working on it, but how long does it take??
Surely most of the hard work is already done (graphics, coding, sounds, music, menu's etc)???

Didn't Halo sell well on the PC?? Played the Halo 1 demo a couple of times, can't see what the fuss is about?!? Just another Sci-fi First person shooter with fairly nice graphics.

No, not yet. San Andreas is PS2 only at the moment (same as Vice City when it was first launched) Something to do with a contract between Sony and Take2.. Anyway Take2 have announced in next years financial forecast that they will be bringing out a PC version next year sometime(An Xbox version is also likely, but it's unconfirmed)..

The game play was nice oh yes but then the graphics...err...what graphics?

For the amount of power you needed to run that game and what acutally AGING graphics even at the time that it had, I was rather upset in that department. Fairly nice graphics? You actually hit it right on the head. Fair.

Ihave a theory but it's probly just crazy...

Microsoft botched the PC port of Halo on purpose so that PC gamers would get hooked on it and buy xboxes-the system it runs best on

that's just crazy though

common sense isn't very common

of course M$ wants to make u buy an xbox. Now people can be like "omg, halo 2 is out. Lets go out and get an xbox so we can play, even though it will be 'obsolete' next year when xbox 2 comes out". MS just wants ur money. this is the only thing they could do to make money. if it came out only on PC, people w/o a comp (there are still people w/o a computer?) wouldnt be like "lets go get a nice expensive high-end computer so that we can play halo!" Gates wants to overtake the #1 richest man in the world position again! lol

and to add on to what you said devils6889, the whole reason for the xbox is for microsoft to take a foothold in the console and gaming worlds- it's another arena that microsoft hasnt taken over yet
they need a monopoly there the same as they have in pc's

common sense isn't very common

that's a reality
M$ realized that Sony was getting too big and reeling in too many gamers
so they said, if we can't get gamers to use pc's we'll have to make our own console and make our games for it
the goal is to take sony down and to take over the gaming industry-console and pc
remember, they need people to play computer games so they have to buy windows
M$ is no longer content to have computers just for schools, businesses, and homes they need the gamers too

common sense isn't very common
