My brother's older computer is running HL2 at an acceptable speed at lower detail levels, however, all dialogue is missing. It's odd because no one's lips are moving, and I did confirm that all the sound files have been installed. What might it be? Thanks in advance.
My bad, yeah that's right, AMD called that CPU type Socket A and for a Pentium it was Slot 1, but that's beside the point. The system specs are a Athlon 700, nForce200 mobo, 384mb PC133, GeForce 2 400, a generic PCI sound card, Win98SE, DX9c, and fully updated nVidia drivers. The biggest bottleneck is the CPU, but I'm doubtful that's the reason, however that could be false. The issue at hand is the missing dialogue, so I'd rather not go into how sucky this computer is. It's a hand-me-down for my little bro on which he usually plays older games, however I was happily suprised at how well HL2 scales for older systems. Anyways, about the problem I'm having, I'd like some construcive advice if you could. Thanks again.
