Specs: Windows 7, i7 920 2.6ghz / 9gig ram
i think I'm getting bottlenecked, i have a gtx 670 ftw, with an i7 920 2.6ghz, but i notice major fps drops when I'm playing games. i have a gateway fx6800-01e (with upgraded ram 9gig) and an upgraded psu 700w. i don't know why I'm getting major frame rate drops. like ill be over 100 then boom down to 30-40fps. help me please.

"my screen res is 1680x1050 59.8hz"

What's the game res set to? And how do you get 9GB RAM?

I don't know how you arrived at 9GB. It is running in triple channel mode?

Is it possible your CPU is overheating & throttling back?

same question how did u set up ur ram to 9GB ? which ram is inserted in which slot ?
this could be overheating or a power issue or a driver issue,
start by listing ur power supply model and specs.
download speedfan and gpu-z check ur system temperatures post results.
make sure to have latest drivers from nvidia i believe 306.23WHQL now

ok i have 6 slots, i have 3, 1gig in every other ( the original 3 gigs of ram) then i added 3 more into unused slots of 2 gig. this is what best buy told me to do years ago when i bought the thing, now reading more about it, i think it was a bad idea? i did not mean to put 2gig original, there was 3gig original. and this is the ram that is in it.

original: samsung: 1GB 1Rx8 pc3-8500U-07-00-A0
Added: Crucial: 2GB 240-PIN DIMM 256MX64 DDR3

is this bad? i have been running this for 4 years or so.
PS let it be known i really don't know anything about computers. so go easy guys. i just like to play games on them.
