GTA IV is gonna be painful on a single-core system--especially a P4. This is a game that will take as much CPU power as you can throw at it. Minimum CPU requirement: Core 2 Duo/Athlon 64 X2 4600+. Recommended: Core 2 Quad/Phenom X3. Unless your 512MB Geforce is one of the really low-end models (7 series below 7800, 8 series below 8600, 9 series below 9500), I doubt that upgrading the videocard will heighten your GTA IV experience. You're just too CPU-limited with a single-core.
