Hi guys tell me What is the meaning of GT,GTX,GX2,GTR,GTS,GTO,GS,LE,SE,XTX,XT,XL. I saw that these words written on the end of the model numbers just like 7900GT,X1900XT etc Are they taken these words from the cars just like 1.Ford Mustang GT 2.Ford GTX 3.Nissan Skyline GTR 4.Dodge Viper GTS 5.Pontiac GTO 6.Toyota Camry LE and SE XL means what EXTRA LARGE
They're model numbers, simple as that. Some are faster than others, but there's no inherent logic to the numbers that automatically means one alphabet combo is faster than another.
LE = Limited edition SE = Special Edition
Usually both of those are retarded cousins of the regular variants. Think of them translated as "Limited performance edition" and "sucky edition".
Adding an X to a combo usually denotes "xtra" performance. Example: An x1900XTX is faster than an x1900XT. XL's are usually lower end cards than XT's of the same number. Ditto GS's compared to GT's and GTX's.
But honestly, it's better to research specific models of cards you're considering using independent benchmarks. http://www.tomshardware.com has an excellent page with comprehensive benchmarks for almost all cards on the market.
But please take note that only nvidia and ati use this terms more often. and they do mess it up by using different term meanings for their product. example: geforce XT is the slower version than the GT. While radeon XT is the faster version than the XL etc. quite confusing sometimes. i agree with heropsycho2177. better go and check the performance yourselves.
