well um, i just about the same thing b4, but the solution one of the forum members posted didnt quite turn out right, unfortunately, so i decided to try again, maybe re-iterate my words.
Man, i've come across a very strange problem, and it is extremely annoying. After playing for a few minutes, lets say 10, the graphics gets choppy and im guessing the frame rates goes to like 1 or so. If this was only an issue for new games, i'd say that my graphics card wasnt powerful enough. But im running a AX800PRO (asus) and im having difficulty playing Diablo II, Starcraft, NFSU2, Oblivion etc. pretty much every game i've got gives me the problem.
I've tested my ram, and there are no problems. My computer pretty much never crashes. The only problem i know of at all, is the thing where it lags...
it sux cuz its even the old games +_+.
Can some1 help me out?
i've got like...
3.0ghz p4 socket 478 chipset
1 gig of veritech ram (i guess u can call it no brand ram)
Antec SmartPower 2.0
AX800Propretty much latest drivers for everything
if anyone can help me out, i'd much appreciate it.

0. Update your motherboard chipset drivers to the latest.
1. Clean out your CPU/HSF assembly and refurb the CPU (recoat the thermal paste) and make sure the CPU/HSF is mounted correctly when you are done.
2. Clean out your video card's HSF (dust bunnies).
3. Leave the side cover of for a while and see if there's difference (frame drop).
4. Go into your BIOS and turn off fast write if you have it enabled.
Keep us posted.

You might have a memory leak due to malware. Run your favourite anti-spyware and antivirus programs as well as cleaning your registry and defragging your HD. You should do these things at least once every few weeks to keep your computer in shape.
