Hello, yesterday I was playing the relatively new game Brothers in Arms with little difficulties. I left the computer for 5 minutes, and when I came back the computer had shut down. I started it up, and now all games I run gets heavy rendering\flickering problems.

Screenshot of Problem (black dots\edges keep moving around):

I have the latest Directx drivers (9.0c) and a diagnostics check shows the same problems on the Direct3d test, no problems with Directdraw.

My graphics drivers are the newest (NVIDIA 71.89) and I have tried reinstalling them to no success.

My graphics card is Aeolus 6600 GT from NVIDIA and I havent had similar problems before with my current hardware setup (had some problems with flickering in certain games with an earlier driver).

To surmise:

Windows XP professional with Service Pack 2
Graphics card: Aeolus 6600 GT
Drivers: 71.89 Nvidia Drivers
Directx: 9.0c

Any help would be appreciated.

This is almost definitely a hardware problem. The video card is messing up, but the question is if it's damaged, or is something causing this that can be corrected.

First thing to check is see if the fan is still running on the card, or is the card being cooled adequately. If the fan is running, try taking the side off your PC and see if the problem goes away. If so, your card is overheating.

If it is being cooled properly, then I would venture to say your power supply is not giving a consistant and adequate amount of power to your video card.

In either case, if nothing seems to correct the problem, the card could have been damaged by either of these or it's just a bad card, and you may need to get a replacement. If you do need a replacement, rule out these other issues causing the card to go bad, so it won't happen to the new one. I would assume the card is under warranty, so don't mention ANYTHING that sounds like it wasn't due to the card. (Ie, don't mention your power supply or inadequate case cooling.)

oooo i can see is World of warcraft.
try to put another video card in and test it out. you dont have to uninstall it, you can just disable it and install another video card and test it.

I was afraid it might be the card, hmm, fan is running and temp is around 40 degrees celcius. I`ll check the powercable, might do the trick, altough I would believe an error message would occur?

I was considering a windows reinstall, altough if it would do something useful I have no idea. Maybe I`ll try it if nothing else works.

Its World of Warcraft yes, hehe, it happened just before the new patch, wich was gonna implement the new honor system (Getting desperate ^^). Hmmm, I could offc switch vid cards, but im not sure if it would tell me anything other than that the problem lies in the videocard. And I havent got a pci-express card lying around nor my friends in the nearest vicinity.

Anyways I`ll check the powercable and take out the card and check it, maybe do a reinstall or else make use of my warranty if nothing else comes up. Thx for the comments.
