Hi all,
I know laptops aren't really high-end gaming machines, but I'm getting a laptop soon and was wondering what the best value graphics card for notebook computers would be?
I'm currently looking at an HP laptop that comes with a Radeon 9000. Would that be ok for playing most games?
I'd mainly be playing Quake 3, Soldier of Fortune 2, Condition Zero and occasionally Far Cry.
Far Cry's a beast I know, and if it doesn't work on the laptop it's not the end of the world (still got my trusty 2.8Ghz desktop!).

I'd appreciate your advice!

I got an Acer Ferrari 3000 with an Athlon XP 2500 Barton, 512mb DDR PC2700, 60GB HDD,
and Radeon 9200 128MB graphics card

I can play quake at 1024x768 with full details at an average of 200fps

Call Of Duty 1024x768 32bit at an average of 80fps

Far Cry 1024x768 32bit with all Medium details at an average of 35-50fps

Far Cry is massively graphics dependant so you might be able to run that at 1024x768 at all medium details, the P4 2.8 should help quite a bit

If you want an exellent gaming laptop that can play Doom 3 and HL2 with no problems, try and get a laptop with a Radeon 9600 128mb or Radeon 9700 128mb graphics card
