Comment:

I will be buying a PC system shortly. For the
RAM I will get myself a 2 GB DDR2. The CPU
will depend on how much I spend on my
graphics card, and I have 2 choices for the
graphics card -

XFX 8800 GT:
Core/Memory Clock - 600/1800 MHz
Memory - 256 bit, 512 MB DDR3
Price - $200(approx.)

XFX 9500 GT:
Core/Memory Clock - 550/1600 MHz
Memory - 128 bit, 512 MB DDR3
Price - $90(approx.)

Please advise on which I should buy. Buying
9500 will allow me to spend a bit more on CPU
. So should I buy 9500 GT and get an
extremely good processor(like Athlon X2 9000)
or should I buy an 8800 and get myself just a
good processor(like Athlon X2 6000)?

I think you're a bit confused. There is no "Athlon X2 9000". And where are you shopping that an 8800GT costs $200? You can get them for about 1/2 that much. Besides, the 8800GT has been replaced by the 9800GT. A big thing you're missing in the specs is that the 9500GT only has 32 stream processors...the 8800GT/9800GT has 112. And notice the 128-bit vs 256-bit. Look at the following benchmarks. Crysis wouldn't even be playable with the 9500GT, at least not at these resolutions:

If you're gonna get an Athlon X2, go for the 5400+ Black Edition & overclock it.

Or you may wanna spend a little more & get the newly released X2 7750 Black Edition which is based on the X4 Phenom.

As for RAM, you can get 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2-800 for about $25.

A decent motherboard will cost you about $75 & a decent power supply will cost you another $75 or so.
