Hi,

I have a ATI 9500Pro softmodded to 9700, I have 1gig RAM and a Athlon XP 2600 running at 2.09Ghz. I have always been able to play the latest games with fairly high FPS, usually in Medium or High mode but certainly in Low.

However, recently, the quality of games has taken quite a big jump, direct x10, 'next-gen' games etc.

I got a copy of 'Dirt' from Codemasters and I am not able to play that. Can't quite remember why.

The main reason for this post though is because i've just got 'PES 2008' and even running it on Low quality the FPS rate is low and the game is quite jumpy, only just playable.

My question is really, should I wait and do a complete upgrade or could I get a decent AGP graphics card now which I can transfer to my new machine, if and when I get it?

If I can get a good AGP card for under £100 then can you give me a few examples of good cards.

Half of me wants to go out a get a completely new machine but my brain says to wait a bit as my PC does pretty much everything I need to do really well still.

Thanks for your time.
Joe

If your pc does everything you need it to do still then you should just wait until you need a new pc. throwing another gb of ram in and another mid range graphics card is much cheaper then building a whole new system.

If you're not going to upgrade to Vista anytime soon until you build your new pc then buying a DirectX 10 card just to have a DirectX 10 card is pointless considering you're not going to be able to take advantage of DirectX 10 on XP anytime soon if at all depending upon if Service Pack 3 will support DirectX 10 or not which it prob won't.

A Nvidia 7600GT or ATI 1650Pro would do you good until you do a complete build.
