Howdy. (specs at bottom, by the way)

I have a computer I got as a christmas present back in
2004, It was pretty good for its day and I was able to play
almost all games on the market.. However, its not 2004
anymore.. And I've been noticing I can't even play some
games on minimum graphical detail, such as The Elder
Scrolls oblivion, while I can still play some games with all
specs on high such as Fable:TLC.

My question is pretty simple, You know the settings in
games, The graphical ones such as Shadows and Texture
detail? Is that dependent on my graphic card only? I have
a feeling that its my graphic card and my memory..

Also. I was thinking of buying a 2gb jump drive for use with Windows Vista (ready boost I think its called), I was wondering if I would see any noticable performance improvement.

Specs:
1.7 AMD Sempron
512MB
Nvidia Geforce FX 5700le (256mb)

:-)

Oblivion is pretty CPU and RAM heavy. If you can't run that game, then you either lack in RAM or CPU. In this case, it's both.

I was wondering if I would see any noticable performance improvement.
You might notice an improvement for launching applications (like MS Office), but you wouldn't see any performance boost in game.

Windows Vista + 512MB RAM = very slow...

What I would do is to buy a 1GB stick for your system and replace the old 5700LE with x1650PRO AGP...

Asus P5P800 PAT
P4 506 @ 4009Mhz 1.3v
Thermaltake CLP0024 w/ 1700RPM 92MM + AS5
2GB OCZ 2-3-2-5 DDR400
120GB/300GB 7200RPM HD
Leadtek 7600 AGP 590/1600 VF700 ALCU AS5

Dude, to play games like obvilion you need a damn good computer...the jumpdrive wont do any good to games performance...

I think if you wana play games as heavy as obvilion you need to replace a hole bunch of things in you computer, mainly memory but the CPU's lacking performance too...About the video card, well the FX series already had its glory days now its quite weak in terms of performance...you should go for a X1650PRO as TMP-man said but if your willing to spend a little more cash u should go with the SAPPHIRE RADEON X1950PRO 256MB its a very nice card for its current price:

Yeah yeah, I do.

But I can't do that right now, I'm tight on cash. I think I'll be
upgrading my memory, and I'm looking into a better graphics
card, thanks delmos.

Should get a new computer... don't get vista .it sucks at running games get XP PRO instead.

Dell products are inexpensive ,check it out at www.dell.com. computers ship with AMD are cheaper than the one with Intel. They quality are about the same

If i were you I will get a computer with good
AMD duo core processor and good ATI graphic card.

computers ship with Intel processor and NVIDIA are somewhat so dam expensive.

best regard >>>
