I'm looking for a video graphics card for to play sims 2. My current compaq has a 16Mb NVIDIA TNT2 M64 PRO graphics card. Can you recommend the most economical performing new graphics card?

My 9800 Pro would struggle at times with this game, and that's coupled with a 2.2 GHz CPU. I'm not sure how playable it would be for you, even with a new video card. Some people are like Slinkies, not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs...

Hooner, If you still play SIMS 2, what set up do you have?

This is great...I was looking for the exact same information to play Sims 2. I only have onboard graphics, so it's very slow and choppy. I wasn't sure what cards I could use, but I think I have both kinds of slots in my computer. I'm dying to play this game!!

I don't still play it, not really my sort of game, I prefer blowing things up ;-) But I have an Athlon 2600, with 512 MB, and a 9800 Pro (128 MB). I used to run The Sims in 1024x768 full detail, and as I said it would struggle at times. I'm sure if you lowered the resolution and most of the detail, you would get it somewhere approaching playable on a PCI FX5200. Maybe. Some people are like Slinkies, not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs...
