well, im looking to see what graphic card is better for gamming.. the radeon 9600pro 265m
or the radeon x600 256m

Well the 9600Pro is AGP, while the x600 is PCI-e. You need to find out what your motherboard has; AGP or PCI-e. But ill reckon you'll have an AGP port.

So, instead of the 9600pro 256mb, I'd reccommend the 9600xt 128mb, or 9800pro 128mb.
Although the 256mb of ram sounds good on the 9600pro it doesn't get used and offers nearly no performance increments when compared to a 9600pro 128mb.
So, I'd suggest 9600xt 128mb or 9800pro 128mb, which I think will perform well in accordance with your system (if you have an AGP slot).

I agree with Stu. 256MB is unnecessary. The 9600XT 128MB is better than the 9600Pro 256MB & the 9800Pro is even better. The thing to watch for with the 9800Pro is that it MUST be connected to the power supply, so make sure your PSU can handle the extra load...if not, go with the 9600XT
