I have been checking the cards out and would like to know someones opinion. These are the cards and I dont want to go over $110. These look pretty good from the reviews:

CHAINTECH Geforce FX 5200 256MB 128-bit DDR PCI Video Card

JATON Geforce FX5700LE 128MB 128-bit DDR PCI Video Card

Apollo Geforce FX5700LE 128MB 128-bit DDR PCI Video Card

XFX Geforce FX5200 256MB DDR PCI Video Card

I want the card to be able to play Half life 2, Doom 3, and games that will be here in the coming months such as Battlefield 2 and GTA:San Andreas. The reviews say that they can play the game but i would like some more opinions. Thnx for helping me out.

I told you PCI cards are expensive. I also told you NOT to waste your money on a 256MB card...it's not worth it!

For the most part, the 5700LE sucks. Double check that it's a 128-bit card, because the "LE" in the model number tells me it's 64-bit.

Cut your losses & go with an FX5200 128MB/128-bit card. Are you in the USA? If so, you should be able to find one for less than $75.

Ajem. You need more RAM first for those games to be even playable.

Peace.

ok guy, according to this your dell has NO apg slot. It's PCI or nothing.

Dude! you got a dell! ...with no room for upgrades, oh well.

Tell ya' what, give us your systems specs and maybe we can find you a new cheap mainboard to match your cpu and ram type that could also handle APG. Maybe an Asus P4-533 or something.

Go here download it, run it and post the results it generates back here.

Peace.

"No this isnt. That was for other ones. Get it together."

No, YOU get it together!

If you wanna waste your money on a $100 PCI card, by all means, go ahead...it's your money. But you came here asking for advice & you're getting the same answer over & over. We realize that you have no choice but to get a PCI card...you got a Dell, dude, not a "real" PC. The answer to your question(s) is to get the cheapest card that you can find that will give some resemblence of performance...and that card is the FX5200 128MB/128-bit card. Believe me, I don't say that lightly...I don't wish the FX5200 on anyone. But the other PCI cards that are generally available (MX4000, Radeon 9250, FX5700LE) all suck just as much. Spending more money is not gonna help.

Were you hoping that if you posted the same question enough times you'd get the answer you wanna hear?

You have PCI slots...not AGP & not PCI-E! PCI video cards are old news. Hardly anyone uses them anymore because most people have upgraded to newer systems that have an AGP slot, or even newer systems with PCI-E. PCI cards are expensive because of "supply & demand". Manufacturer's have all but stopped producing them, except for a few choice crappy models to keep those who wanna milk another year out of an aging system happy.

Here's your card:

Thanks for this advice, as it's helpful to me as well. I have
the same crappy Dell as a secondary PC to my Mac. It
meets all the recommended game requirements other
than graphics, but has no agp slot so I'm stuck trying to
find a PCI.

I know the MX 4000 won't work, but I'm wondering if the
GeForce FX5200 will work with these system
requirements:

Minimum: 64MB GeForce (tm) 3 or higher, or ATI(R)
Radeon 8500 or higher (excluding GeForce 4 MX).

Reccommended: 128 MB GeForce FX 5600 or higher or
ATI(R) Radeon 9600 or higher.

If I have to pay more than $60, I might as well get an
Xbox.

Also, some people said to get the FX5200, while others
picked the FX5700LE. I understand they both suck, but do
they have specific advantages? 5700 is obviously a higher
number, but how much does the LE take it down?
