"If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions" - Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) in Pulp Fiction

This guy says that, even with many of the game settings lowered, he experienced several "nasty drops" on a system with a "dual-core 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, [and] 640MB GeForce 8800".
But, he doesn't mention which dual core he has, and I'm guessing that his paltry 2GB of RAM is to blame for at least a few of the "nasty drops" in performance.
Sounds like another lousy port.

I was a beta tester for the game...its specs listed are minimum, you want a bi higher. It will run smoother on xp sp2 (instead of sp3). Also the game runs best on 32 bit os not 64. Even though the 64 will emulate it runs much better in the 32 bit environment.

Intel Quad Core Kentsfield 2.4Ghz Q6600 CPU

I should receive my copy later on today, im hoping my specs are sufice to play it as Crysis seems to perform well on my machine, so im hoping gta 4 will do (fingers crossed) looks lk awesome game, long overdue

I highly doubt that.
Edit: Looks like SP3 is required to run the game."Even though the 64 will emulate it runs much better in the 32 bit environment."
Windows x64 does not run 32-bit apps under emulation. If it did, games like GTA IV would be completely unplayable--maybe a frame per second.
The CPU simply switches into 32-bit mode to run the game, so there's no performance hit. That's the beauty of x86-64.
