I cant find this on google so please help me out.My monitor is 17inch widescreen lcd and native res is 1280x720.
What should I look for in the gpu?I heard that when you have a big monitor you need more ddr3 in the gpu to match the screen res is this right?
So if I buy one with a good amount of gddr3 I should be able to play at 1024x720 and turn up the other visual options high since it isn't all in the resolution

I need help I am new here.I would greatly appreciate some help since I can't find everything on google.

"why did you post a link on best gpu for the money?"

Because it doesn't appear as if you have a video card yet...if you did, you would have mentioned it.

The desktop resolution should be set to the native resolution of the LCD monitor, regardless of the video card used. It doesn't matter if you have a GeForce2 or a Geforce 8800, if your native res is 1280x720, that's what it should be set at (provided you have the proper drivers installed). The game settings are independent of the desktop settings & will vary depending on the game & your system hardware.

For example, the native resolution of my Samsung 17" (non-WS) LCD is 1280 x 1024. My video card is a Radeon X800Pro with 256MB GDDR3/256-bit memory. To be able to play the Crysis Demo, I had to run the game resolution at 640 x 480...it wasn't pretty, but there was little or no lag. Obviously if I had a better card, I could have jacked up the game settings.

Don't just focus on the memory spec. Hell, even the FX5700 Ultra used GDDR3, but you sure aren't gonna play modern games with it. You have to look at the overall specs of the card...the GPU the card is based on, the memory amount & type, memory interface, clock speeds, shaders, texture units, ROPs, DX support, etc.
