Need some help if you folks don't mind. Im not a total noob, but could use some experienced help.
My problem is that i am recieving vertical artifacts along with polygonals in games. It recently started approx 1 month ago and orig the card worked fine. I don;t know if this is a heat issue or an agp slot prb, as pushing on one side of the card kinda helps the vertical lines. duct tape dont work no more! should i scrap gpu or mobo? Thanks!
I am running an asus 9800 agp card on an abit kv7 with an athlon xp 2.19ghz with 1gig mem; windows xp.

If your card is not overclocked and it is seated and installed correctly and you are getting artifacting, there is something wrong with the physical card and you'll need to replace it.
I agree; computing.net does need an edit button.

Thanks all. I was hoping I could salvage the gpu but I doubted I could from the start. Gonna scrap it, grab a cheap agp vid card and make it a secondary comp. Gonna get with technology and get an sli pcie and new gpu.

...and next time you use the duct tape, don't get the regular hardware store stuff. Spend the extra money and get the upgraded duct tape specifically made for computer applications. :)

Summary: The max "safe" temp for your GPU is well over 100C. So like I said, if the temp is being reported accurately & your GPU is high 60's, I doubt your artifacting prob is temp related. This was just poste...
