Jesus Christ! what the...

You have $3500, should've gotten a more decent PSU. I'd drop the fancy keyboard and mouse and and get me an enermax 500W.

That 56K modem will make for a good paper weight too.

I like the Proc. can't say the same bout the DDR.

Nice Video card.

You could have (& should have) done better. You spent close to $500 on sound & cut corners elsewhere. Why would you get the X2 5000+ instead of the FX-62?? And why would you throw all this high end gear in such a crappy case?? You're definitely gonna need to invest in a decent PSU ASAP or all your money is gonna go up in a puff of smoke! Plan on spending another $100 to get a good one.

I'd get the Conroe E6600 instead for higher performance...

"U.S. Robotics USR5633A 56Kbps USB External Modem - $50"

Why in the world would u want 56k modem? If you win $3500, why not go for dsl or cable connection?

"APEVIA (ASPIRE) X-Dreamer II ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 420W Power Supply - $60"

If I were you, I'd go with the Antec P150 or Sonata series for extre quietness... The sonata already come with a 450 watt power supply which should be adaqute for your setup...

If you are a gambler, think about how much money you lost in the past in gambling vs the $3500 you win recently...

Yep, Core 2 Duo is far better.

And just because you have the cash doesn't mean you should spend it.

Second time I've posted that today, lol...

Why in the heck do you have 4GB of RAM?!?!

And I love that despite 4GB being utterly useless, you spent a measily $80 on a hard drive that isn't all that big by today's standards, and isn't as fast as some other drives like the Raptors or Seagate perpendicular recording drives. Even buying two hard drives, one for OS, the other for games, would have done more good than 4GB of RAM. Games barely benefit from 2GB, so why you needed 4gb is beyond me. XP has a hard time using it effectively even if it did in fact need it.

$270 on speakers was a waste since the Z5300's would have been fine since you paid for a dolby digital decoder in your soundcard already.

While we're on the topic of the soundcard, the onboard ram on that sound card does little to no good, so you overspent there.

Heck, for the money you spent, I have 2x 19" LCD's and spent less than a third on my machine, and if I upgraded my video card and processor, my machine would perform as well or better and cost about half as much.

The PSU is a joke. You actually owe it to yourself to go buy a nice PSU for this rig.

What a spectacular waste of money!

I was just going to say the 4GB is a Total waste if he is running XP 32-bit as it will not even recognize it all. It is only a partial waste if he will be running 64-bit as it can utilize all of that memory. It would only be useful though with a lot of multitasking.

I can't agree more with the quote above by Thomas Tusser. So many poor choices in this build.

Allow me to add another mistake to your list.

The reason escapes me on why you would a have such a powerful video card/Processor combination and only 19" monitor to view one third of its potental on. That is less then 1.4 megapixels for a display. digital FujiFilm camera pumps out 4.1 megapixels images, which translates into a resolution of 2560x1600.

The 7950 GX2 can handle modren damanding games at these ridiculously high resolutions (2560x1600), they were designed for extreme HD gaming. Pairing a 7950 GX2 with a 19" monitor is an insult to that card. What good is are that hardware when your playing your games on an Etch-a-Sketch?

Go with a 24" display, or the cheaper option, a projector.

Definitely not one of these...

It's a waste, but your statement isn't accurate. XP 32-bit will full recognize 4GB of RAM. Granted it won't utilize it well, but just FYI.

Also don't forget if you run 4x DIMMS, you will be forced to use 2T command rate instead of 1T... That's the reason why I sold my old 1GB corsair VS kit for $80 and bought 2GB OCZ platnium kit for $160...

Well, there isn't much to say, except with the spechs that you purchased, does the system run stable?

I'm kinda surprized on the 420w power supply. it kinda looks like you didn't shop around very much, and were in too quick of a hurry.

I've been researching my new gaming rig for 3 months now, and still haven't decided what to get.

Well there is my input.
