I’m going to be building this system myself, so I was just wondering about the compatibility of the parts. First off, would the power supply that’s coming with the case sufficient in powering my system? How important is the sound card? I selected the Audigy SE instead of the X-Fi extreme audio 24-bit to save 20$, is it worth it?
Lastly, my budge is about $1200, where should i spend the remaining 100 on? I was thinking of getting the 9800 instead even if its $150 or so more.

Well personlly if you want to use it for gaming, why not get the 8800GT card, they are better in performance than the 8800GTS, and the price is not expensive now.

Oh, I thought the GTS is better than the GT, since the GTS is $50 more than the GT

Just because you have a certain budget, you don't necessarily have to push the limit.

Do you need the sound card? You'd be better off investing in a decent power supply. The case w/PSU sells for about $70 at TigerD, the case alone sells for about $50 at newegg...what does that tell you about the quality of the PSU?

I'm not familiar with power supplies. What's a good one you'd recommend?

NCIX. Should I be looking for a new case as well as the power supply?

I don't know how much you're willing to spend, but I recommend a PSU with a single +12v rail with high amperage over a PSU with multiple +12v rails of 18-20A each.

Have a look at the Corsair 650W w/52A. You'd have to buy it today to qualify for the $20 rebate though:

Corsair TX650W

As for the case, that's personal preference...what looks good to one person may look like crap to another. Just make sure it has enough room & slots for what you need, it's reasonably well made (not cheap & flimsy) & has good airflow characteristics. 120mm rear exhaust fan is the way to go. Side panel fans should be avoided but a duct to the CPU cooling fan is good. Perforations in the side panel for video card cooling is also a good thing.

Here's one possibility, but there are plenty others to choose from:

Coolermaster Elite RC-330
