Solved Good computer lags on games

January 7, 2016 at 08:10:17
Specs: Windows 10, i5 4460, 8gb ddr3 ram, Nvidia GeForce GTX 745
So, my problem is that my new computer, that has decent components, lags a little on games like gta v on high, far cry 4 on medium and cities skylines on max.
My parts:
i5 4460
Nvidia GeForce GTX 745
8gb ddr3 ram
1tb hard drive

Also, in gta v i have to use directx 10.1 because if i use directx 11 it crashes semi often. I believe the problem is in the gpu, and i would like to know how can i boost the performance, and if it isn't in the gpu, please help and tell me what the problem is :P

Try lowering the MSAA settings, if enabled. MSAA eats memory like a black hole. Also, at least in GTA, there should be a distance scaling option, which also eats a lot of memory.

Don't worry if plan A fails, there are 25 more letters in the alphabet ;)

Well, it is running Win10, so there's that, but other than that, have you removed all the bloatware & managed the startup apps?

That video card is quite weak, despite its "GTX" branding. It only has 384 SPs and 28.8GB/s of memory bandwidth, which is not great for a dedicated graphics processor. A boring old CPU running dual channel DDR3-1866 has more memory bandwidth than that!

Upgrade to a good mid range gaming card like the GTX 960 or R9-380, and your frame rates will at least triple.

mATX LGA2011 | i7-4930k @ 4.3GHz | 32GB DDR3-2133 | GTX 970 | Rampage IV Gene
512GB/4TB/BDXL | Win 10 Pro
