I am a beginner, so much of a beginner I have bought my first PC game and would like to get online to play it. The question I hope to get answered is where do I start and can anybody suggest some sort of direction for me. I know you have to have to register the game with a server running Call of Duty and that is about it. Thanks for the help!

Open your internet connection. Get into the game. Switch to multiplayer. The latest patch should donwnload (if you need it). Pick a game and enter!

if ur playing behind a router, you may have to open up some ports. If u have dialup, such as AOL, ull have to dial into the internet service and then u can play once ur dialed in. If u have cable or dsl, just make sure the modem is on and choose a multiplayer game and enter. Also, if u have a firewall, you may need to allow the game to access the internet. That's all the circumstances i can think of right now. It would be helpful to tell us of ur internet connection, router/firewall situation, etc. Have fun playing Call of Duty online!

Try to avoid servers full of stupid little kids who play using wall hacks (you can see people hiding behing walls and objects, removes vegetation, some allow you to shoot people through solid objects) and aimbots (just fire without aiming and you're guaranteed a kill every time) etc.. Spoils the game!

I've seen some COD servers with players using script hacks to give them godmode, anti-gravity (able to fly)and a run speed 5x faster than everyone else!!

I've followed people in spectator mode who have been blatently using hacks, even after patch 1.4 was introduced with 'Punkbuster'.

You can usually tell by the scoring too, sometimes you see a player that has made 150 kills and no deaths in the first 5 minutes of play??

Not trying to put a dampener on it, COD online is fantastic if everyone is playing properly, justs happens to be lots of arse-bandits online too!
