Im trying to run crysis on high settings. im pretty sure iv built a pretty solid machine but im lacking somewhere cause my fps on high in crysis is only about 3-5. on low settings im about 40. below are my specs, its pbvious im lacking in my video card are i'd assume but what video card can i get around $150 that will give me the best performance. am i lacking anywhere else??
Aswus P5Q mobo w/ intel P45 chipset
Core 2 duo @ 3.16 overclocked to 3.8 ghz
4 Gb of GSkill DDR@ 1066 ram
Tuniq Tower cpu cooler
PNY GeForce 8500 VGA
Logysis 550 Watt PSU
2 90 CFM 80 mm exhaust fans
1 120mm intakeCPU runs around 45-50 celcius on high load
35 celcius idle

The 8500 is extremely low end & your $20 power supply is just an accident waiting to happen. You're gonna have to invest over $200 more into that system to make it a reliable gamer with decent frame rates in games such as Crysis.

ok so say i scrap the psu and purchase an 8800gts. what psu is good for a decent price. how will my machine be after these updates?

Why would you get an 8800GTS? The Radeon HD4850 is a better card.

I already recommended a PSU in my other response.

Sorry i didnt see the links i thought they were a signiture. I just ordered the 4850 and corsair psu on newegg. How would you say my machine will perform on crysis with my new configuration? thank you for all your help

Are you checking the links I'm providing? Did you see the benchmarks results for Crysis?? The HD4850 is better!

which is better??

the specs say it has a lower memory clock speed then the msi one tho. almost half. newegg doesnt show the clock speed of the powercolor so i looked it up on the manufacturers website. still get the powercolor?

Some manufacturers list the true memory frequency, other's list the DDR speed. If one states 1000MHz & the other states 2000MHz, they're both the same thing.
It's just like your DDR2-1066. It doesn't really run at 1066MHz...that's the DDR rating. It actually runs at 533MHz frequency.
Or your E8500...it doesn't run at 1333MHz, it runs at 333MHz. You should know that from your overclocking. I assume you increased the CPU freq from 333MHz to 400MHz? BTW, for best performance, your RAM should be clocked to 400MHz (DDR800) to match the CPU.

your rite its my first overclock not posotive what im doing but wouldnt that being slowing it down?

If you want optimal performance, the ideal CPU:DRAM ratio is 1:1, although some have made the case for 1:2. Regardless, the ratio is based on frequencies, not DDR & QDR numbers.
Like I tried to explain, DDR1066 RAM does NOT run at 1066MHz...it runs at 533MHz. The 1066 number is the DDR rating. And your CPU does NOT run at 1333MHz...it runs at 333MHz. The 1333 number is the QDR rating.
Let me ask you this, based on your way of thinking, why would you get DDR1066 RAM to go with a 1333MHz FSB CPU? Wouldn't that mean that the RAM is already too slow? Shouldn't you have gotten DDR1333? And when you overclock the CPU to 1600MHz FSB, wouldn't that make the difference between the CPU & DDR1066 RAM even worse??
Anyhow, since you overclocked your CPU freq to 400MHz, the ideal RAM freq should be either 400MHz (DDR800) for 1:1 ratio, or 800MHz (DDR1600) for 1:2 ratio. Since there's no way your DDR1066 RAM will run at DDR1600 speed, the ideal RAM setting for your setup is DDR800.

ok so say i adjust that. with my whole new setup. new psu and vga, how do you think my system is and how well will it run crysis you think?
